A Sugar Land Hidden Treasure-Nick's Italian Restaurant

If you are in the mood for authentic Italian food, then look no further than one of Sugar Land’s hidden treasures-- Nick’s Italian Restaurant. As soon as you walk in the doors you are greeted by Nick himself and if you have met him a couple of times before you will get a big Italian hug and a kiss for each cheek!

Nick’s is a pretty little family restaurant located at 11511 FM 1464. (it’s a little farm road just north of Highway 90 and the Grand Parkway) You wouldn’t know it was there unless you had heard it through the grapevine or went on a Sunday drive. But as soon as you eat, you will remember it always.

For an indulgent night, free from worries of Atkin’s or South Beach, start your meal off with an order of Nick’s Shrimp-fresh garlicky shrimp smothered in a rich cream sauce. Don‘t relinquish your shrimp plate until you sop up all of that delicious sauce with their fresh garlic bread. (Did I mention this was not going to be a light meal?)

I have sampled many wonderful dishes from their menu, but my favorite, by far, is the Pistachio Crusted Chicken. They take thinly pounded chicken breast, cover it with ground pistachios (and a stick of butter) and top it with a sauce made from sun-dried tomatoes, artichoke hearts, and mushrooms. This is my ultimate comfort food, especially when paired with the perfectly al dente Spaghetti with Red Sauce.

As if that weren’t enough, Nick’s has a nice selection of Italian wines and delectable desserts such as their incredibly rich Chocolate Mousse drizzled with strawberry sauce!

So, put on your stretchy pants and bring the kids to Nick’s Italian Restaurant for a true Italian experience. It is sure to leave you sumptuously stuffed and happy.

About Us

Away from the rush of the big city, Nick’s Italian Restaurant is located on the west side of Sugar Land at 11511 FM 1464. Anyone coming to Nick’s has got to be impressed by not only his old world charm in greeting every guest at the front door welcoming them in, but by the wonderful dishes coming out of the kitchen. A big portion of his menu has been forwarded from his original location on Bellaire Boulevard in Houston. The delicious meals can only be attributed to the fresh ingredients used in the preparation. “Half of the fun is picking everything out. I am jumping left and right trying to get the best quality” is something Nick has been known to say about the freshness of the ingredients used.

Nick Kaltsas is the proprietor of Nick’s Italian Restaurant. He and his partner, Carmen Kaltsas, bought what was formerly called The Shade Tree Restaurant. They have turned it into a warm, quiet and welcoming place where anyone who comes through the door is family for as long as they are at Nick’s. From the Mahogany wood floors in the restaurant to the oak tree garden in back, it is easy to see why customers come from his original location, as well as the Galleria area, in Houston to enjoy great food, a great atmosphere and some relaxing or romantic moments at Nick’s.

Nick grew up in Volos, a small town in Greece where his parents, Dimitrios and Vasiliki Kaltsas were farmers and grew grapes, wheat, cotton and olive trees. Nick received his early training in the hotel business in Greece and always noted when his bosses were kind and gracious to guests. Nick says, “To me it was like school. I really appreciate when people come, and I like to make people feel welcome.”
